Donations to the Food Shelf may be made at the wagon inside the exit door at Mehurons IGA Grocery, at the donation box at Shaw’s Supermarket, at the Food Shelf on Tuesdays 10:00-12:00, or by arrangement.
Cash donations to buy food are extremely welcome, and can be made out to Mad River Valley Interfaith Council (MRVIC) and sent to PO Box 342, Waitsfield, VT 05673. Food is purchased locally, and from the Vermont FoodBank at 10 cents per pound, and from the USDA.
If the rear entrance and stairs down to the food shelf are a challenge, visitors may use the ramps into Evergreen Place and the elevator to the lower level.
The MRV Food shelf is operated by the Mad River Valley Interfaith Council and staffed by volunteers. The Interfaith Council is a coalition of the churches and religious groups in the Mad River Valley. The Food Shelf has operated for over 15 years.
The Thanksgiving meal program operates in conjunction with the Food Shelf and other sponsors. We distribute boxes of food including turkeys on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Check back here for further information.
